HealthMarkets is proud to support Trinity Habitat for Humanity and their work to revitalize local neighborhoods by building quality workforce homes and rehabbing existing homes with qualified partner families, volunteer labor and donations of money and materials. Trinity Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabs homes in Johnson, Parker, Tarrant and Wise Counties in Texas.
Trinity Habitat has partnered with 1,426 families through their Build A Home program (new home construction) and their Preserve A Home program (external rehabs, weatherizations, disaster relief, scrape & paint projects) as of December 2014. Trinity Habitat has built 540 new homes for 1,632 people, including 962 children, all of whom now have a place to call home at a price they can afford. In addition, 855 families have a rehabbed home that not only has greater curb appeal but many have better structural integrity and are more energy-efficient, and thus more affordable.
In early 2015, Trinity Habitat for Humanity launched its BuildStrong neighborhood revitalization initiative in partnership with the Hillside Morningside, Carver Heights East and Como neighborhoods in Fort Worth. Trinity Habitat is working alongside existing residents, other community organizations, future homeowners, sponsors and volunteers to dramatically change the overall composition of each neighborhood. Existing home rehab projects will quickly change the streetscapes and new homes will replace vacant lots or dilapidated rental units with homeowner-occupied houses. When homeownership increases, crime rates are reduced, education is improved and communities thrive.
