HealthMarkets employees have been involved with the U.S Marine Reserve Toys for Tots DFW program since 1986. That first year, HealthMarkets raised $1,317. Since then, the Company and its employees have donated almost $1.4 million in toys and monetary contributions to the program both as a national sponsor and directly in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

HealthMarkets employees raise money all year by hosting craft and book fairs, selling popcorn and holding raffles. Throughout the year, we invite local vendors to visit our corporate campus in North Richland Hills with a portion of their sales benefiting our Toys for Tots program.

Toys for Tots is an official activity of the U.S. Marine Corps and an official mission of Marine Forces Reserve. The mission of Toys for Tots is to bring the joy of Christmas to less fortunate children. The principal goal is to deliver a message of hope that will inspire needy youngsters to grow into responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.

Toys for Tots is the Marine Corps’ premier community action program, one of the nation’s flagship Christmas charitable causes, and the only charitable cause within the Department of Defense that reaches outside the military establishment to give something back to local communities.

From 1947 through 2009, local Toys for Tots coordinators distributed 419 million toys to 195 million needy American children. Locally, the 2010 Toys for Tots campaign provided toys to more than 132,000 children in the DFW area.

HealthMarkets is happy to continue our long-standing tradition for supporting the DFW Toys for Tots program. For more information on Toys for Tots, please visit
