HealthMarkets is promoting awareness of cardiovascular health by asking employees, agents, and customers to submit videos of themselves singing the new company jingle. For every video posted with the hashtag #JingleFromTheHeart, the company will donate $15 to the American Heart Association. The goal is to donate at least $15,000.
The American Heart Association was founded in 1924 by six cardiologists to fight heart disease and stroke, the two leading causes of death worldwide. As the country’s oldest and largest voluntary organization of its kind, the AHA teams with 33 million volunteers and 3,400 employees. It has invested more than 4 billion to help fund research projects, which supported 13 Nobel Prize winners and produced several notable medical breakthroughs including the first artificial heart valve, implantable pacemakers, cholesterol inhibitors, and microsurgery.
Cardiovascular disease is a factor in 1 out of every 3 deaths nationwide, which makes it more deadly than all types of cancer and chronic lower respiratory disease. Over 92 million Americans currently have some form of heart disease or the aftereffects of stroke. The AHA estimates that direct and indirect costs of heart disease and stroke are almost $330 billion, including health expenses and lost productivity.
HealthMarkets is proud to support the American Heart Association in its efforts to create “a world of longer, healthier lives.” To learn more, visit the American Heart Association.
